One week to go… this time next week Louis and Laila will embark on the next step of their journey as orphans who came into care when their mums were hit and killed by cars. They will be soft-soft released which means they are moving to a large enclosure (not on their release site) where they will stay until they are big enough for their soft release in a soft release enclosure on the release site. The rescue teams across both Wombat Rescue and @wildcare_queanbeyan have been kept busy with either calls of displaced wombats or injured or killed wombats in the new development area of Environa near Jerrabomberra. This beautiful young female was found sleeping in the KFC drive-thru. Highly unusual behaviour so she was brought into care for possible car strike and xrayed. She was clearly displaced and had nowhere to sleep. KFC was it😊 Thank you to staff member Katie who closed the lane to keep
