Tasmanian potato farmers have rejected a second pay offer from multinational processor Simplot that would see farmers paid less per kilo than last year. A convoy of dozens of tractors and other heavy machinery converged on the town of Deloraine to protest the offer. Farmers have given a revised counteroffer to Simplot and hope negotiations will continue "in good faith", but planting will need to start soon for the 2026 season.
