It was billed as a potential passing of the torch, with the San Diego Padres threatening to win the National League West for the first time in 19 years. Instead, Sunday’s finale ended in a three-game sweep — and a relatively convincing one, at that.
The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the San Diego Padres in the three-game series at Dodger Stadium. Yu Darvish gave up four runs in the first inning, and the Padres were left clawing back and did so, tying the game up at four in the eighth inning.
