A group of four players headlined by LHP Liam Doyle, Keith Law of The Athletic loved what the Cardinals did on day 1 of the MLB Draft.

Eli Willits, son of former major league outfielder Reggie Willits, was picked first by the Nationals in Sunday's Major League Baseball draft, the club opting for the less-heralded Oklahoma prep shortstop coming into this season.

LSU All-American left-hander Kade Anderson was selected No. 3 overall Sunday night in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Anderson, a sophomore from Madisonville, La., is the fourth LSU player in the last four seasons to be among the Top 5 overall MLB Draft selections.

The first three rounds of the 2025 MLB Draft have come and gone. A total of 105 players heard their names called on Sunday, and each ought to feel like a winner just on that account.

The Orioles’ first three picks were Auburn catcher/corner outfielder Ike Irish (No. 19), Coastal Carolina catcher Caden Bodine (No. 30) and Wehiwa Aloy (No. 31). The No. 19 pick was the Orioles’ original first-round selection, while Nos. 30 and 31 were compensation for losing Corbin Burnes and Anthony Santander in free agency.

10:29 p.m. -- With their final pick in Day 1 of the 2025 MLB Draft, the Tigers select Arizona State lefty Ben Jacobs at No. 98. In his final season, Jacobs made 16 starts and held a 4.95 ERA with 120 strikeouts while projecting as a potential starter at the next level with a fastball that has touched 95-96 mph at times.

Round after round passed and Novi star left-hander Uli Fernsler and Birmingham Brother Rice right-hander Blake Ilitch didn’t hear their name called.

Day 1 of the 2025 Draft included the Rockies' picks from Rounds 1-3, including Ethan Holliday at No. 4 overall. Day 2 begins Monday at 9:30 a.m. MT through the conclusion of the Draft, spanning Rounds 4-20.
