LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The Premier League's transfer spending spree reached record levels with more than a week of trading to go as promoted Leeds United signed AC Milan forward Noah Okafor for a reported 18 million pounds ($24.17 million) on Thursday.

Leeds United have splashed £18 million to bring in AC Milan striker Noah Okafor, pushing Premier League spending this summer to a staggering £2.37 billion -- a new all-time high.

As Leeds close in on the signing of Switzerland international winger Noah Okafor from AC Milan, pending his medical, it seems supporters are still wondering when or if another pure centre forward will arrive at Elland Road.

The money spent on the 25-year-old Swiss international, who signed a four-year deal, takes the total outlay by the clubs to £2.37 billion, passing the previous mark of £2.36 billion in the summer of 2023. That total will only grow as there is still over a week to go before the transfer window closes.

Noah Okafor reportedly passed his Leeds United medical this evening, so Milan completed the sale for €21m including add-ons.
