Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency for New Jersey on Thursday afternoon as Hurricane Erin battered coastal communities with strong winds and waves that flooded streets and eroded beaches.

In North Wildwood, the beach is closed to swimmers like many others in New Jersey, due to Hurricane Erin's presence offshore. Strong rip currents are expected and many beaches including Atlantic City have already experienced erosion.

Today's weather will be cloudy, windy, and drizzly. The ocean is downright dangerous as rip current and storm surge concerns peak.
