Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano resumed erupting Friday by shooting an arc of lava 100 feet into the air and across a section of its summit crater floor.

A video shows the incredible moment fountains of lava shot out from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Friday, 22 August. This was Kilauea's 31st eruption since December 2024. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Episode 31 of the ongoing Kilauea eruption ended abruptly at 2:52 a.m. today after more than 12 hours of intense lava fountaining inside Halemaumau crater, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said.
