Amazon could finally be ditching its proprietary software on Fire tablets, according to a report by Reuters. The company is reportedly prepping a higher-end tablet that'll run on Android. This device could come next year and will reportedly cost around $400.

The tablet is compatible with the Amazon Stylus Pen (sold separately). If you’re primarily getting the tablet for studying or sketching, the pen should help with both. And since it plays nicely with Alexa, you can use it as a smart home hub. Managing lights, playing music, or checking the weather – do it all completely hands-free.

Amazon is offering the newest model of its best-selling Fire HD 10 tablet for as low as $90, and it has over 22,000 perfect ratings.

Amazon will shut down its Appstore for Android users on August 20, 2025, ending support, discontinuing Amazon Coins, and urging users to secure refunds and switch to Google Play.
