President Donald Trump made a public plea to Kim Jong Un for an invite for further talks at the beginning of his trip to Asia but admitted on the way home that the they had not even managed to speak on the phone.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a special operations unit on the 1st, the same day South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed cooperation on the Korean Peninsula and other issues during their summit in Gyeongju.

The North Korean leader has grown closer to Moscow since he and Trump met in 2019 and did not respond to the U.S. president’s public push for a meeting.

President Trump has said he hopes the North Korean leader will reach out so they can meet again. But there has been no public response from Mr. Kim.
