Jon Stewart will be sticking around The Daily Show through 2026, despite speculation his time might be limited over a Trump-friendly corporate owner.
Stewart, who returned to “The Daily Show” last year to host the Monday night edition, came to an agreement with management this past weekend.

The satirist's deal extension comes during a period of intense upheaval for Comedy Central's parent company, Paramount, and the late-night comedy genre.
Analysts didn’t need “the eight to 12 hours that they were gonna do to try and discern the closeness” of the races to watch on Tuesday, Stewart said of the election night that gave him the rare feeling of “hope,” as he theorized that Trump’s memes are what made the easy wins possible.
The news was expected. Last week, at an event for the New Yorker, Stewart said he is “working on staying” with the Comedy Central late-night show. Stewart hosted the series (solo) from 1998 to 2015, and returned in 2024 as a sometimes-host and all-the-times EP.
Stewart became host of “The Daily Show” in 1999, and held that role until 2015. He rejoined the show as a once-a-week host in early 2024. Jon Stewart will continue to host Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” through December 2026, extending the run of the late-night host known for sharp political commentary.
