Rain poured down on the iconic Rose Parade on Thursday for the first time in 20 years, as flood warnings and evacuation orders in Southern California joined snow squalls and frigid temperatures in the country's midsection to mark the first day of 2026.
Some rain will spread into San Francisco, Sacramento and much of the balance of Central and Northern California from the storm spanning later Wednesday to Friday. Rain showers will also spill into the deserts in Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., as well as Phoenix and Yuma, Ariz.
