Celebrity Beyond’s Oct. 26 itinerary will visit the Western Caribbean rather than the Eastern Caribbean, according to the cruise line’s parent company, Royal Caribbean Group. The ship will visit Costa Maya in Mexico, Belize and Roatan, Honduras.

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two tropical waves: The axis of an eastern Atlantic tropical wave is near 31W/32W S of 18N, and moving west around 17 mph. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 06N to 12N between 30W and 34W.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a tropical wave for the possibility of tropical development in the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Hurricane Center's 1 p.m. Tuesday advisory reported that Category 5 Hurricane Melissa is in the Caribbean Sea, 55 miles south-southeast of Negril Jamaica and 265 miles southwest of Guantanamo Cuba. With maximum sustained winds of 175 mph, the hurricane is moving to the north-northeast at 7 mph.

Melissa has strengthened into a Category 5 storm according to the National Hurricane Center. Rapid intensification is expected to continue over the next few days. The National Hurricane Center expects Melissa to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane by the end of the weekend.
