Hurricane Erin is bringing dangerous surf and rip currents to Massachusetts, prompting beach closures on the Islands and along the South Coast. Nantucket announced Tuesday that all South Shore beaches would be closed due to large surf and dangerous rip currents from approaching Hurricane Erin.

The National Weather Service’s Boston office has issued a forecast warning of rip currents that can pull swimmers away from the shore and into deep water.
