Mark Hamill may be known worldwide as Luke Skywalker, but when he first read the script for “Star Wars,” he didn’t think he was about to star in one of the most famous movies ever made. Instead, he thought the whole thing was a joke.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill initially thought George Lucas' 1977 space opera was a spoof of Flash Gordon when he first read the script and the director nor his co-star Harrison Ford gave him any advice on how to approach his character Luke Skywalker.
