The Las Vegas Grand Prix has mastered the art of the Formula 1 street circuit in a way that never seemed possible in America.

Now however, the result of an investigation into the concept has gone against the idea. Las Vegas GP COO Emily Prazer revealed that, after looking into the idea, organisers concluded that the race, which featured 99 overtakes during its debut, already provides more than enough action.

Formula One has no plans to add a sprint race to the Las Vegas Grand Prix schedule in the near future as officials remain “quite comfortable” keeping the format at other events.

F1 is coming back to the Las Vegas strip and race day preparations are underway. Barricades and race equipment are slowly taking over the iconic strip for on of the few city circuits in the F1 calendar.

The team responded to unfounded claims that recent crash damage could prevent them from participating in the event.

An internal review by the Las Vegas Grand Prix organisers has concluded that adding a Sprint Race to the Formula 1 event would add little value, as the city’s high-speed circuit already provides the characteristics of an F1 Sprint.
